Little Visitors

A few months ago, I woke up to a sharp screeching sound outside my apartments window. I went out to discover two newborn kittens laying under a nearby bush.  Immediately felling in love with them, their activities urged me to watch their snuggling for a while.

About two hours later, I heard fighting of two cats near the crib of the little ones, one of them appeared to be their mother. I shouted at them, they broke the fight and dashed away.  I was happy of getting in time and saving the day, if it wasn’t for me the tom cat might have killed them.

After an hour or two the screeching of the kittens began again. I went out again to discover lonely kids calling for their mom,  but she was nowhere to be found. It was getting cold and dark. I waited for a while, thinking of different bad scenarios, worst of all the possible return of tom cat. After giving it plenty of thought I  decided to bring them inside the apartment.

I put them in an old DVR box after filling it with dry mud and rags and placed it under my bed.  Though I have experience keeping pet cats but never this juvenile; So I sought internet for tips and found a lot of them for making solution and wiping them with warm cotton to make them go poo-poo though it was pretty disgusting but my determination to care for them was pretty strong.

The experience taught me a lot. I never nursed anything that way before. I had to wake up early to make solution, boil water and make a warm bed for them. feed them every other hour.

Third day i noticed that the kittens were getting a little slow in their movement, It made me suspicious and I went to visit a Vet, he told me how new born kittens should be left alone to fate, as they have a very poor chance of survival without their mom. The Internet had given me a staunch hope that I can save them if I dedicated enough time, and did everything right.

I tried everything changed solution increased feed, but they kept getting thinner. After a week the smaller kitten just never woke up in the morning. And the next day the other one perished as well in my hands. That experience was disturbing yet taught full and told me the reality of life and how everything will go one day despite of all the love and care you put in.

I buried both of them wrapped in cloth under the bush where I found them. Six month after the incident I found that the new leaves right above their grave went red, It was such a beautiful sight.

The Harp I Always Had

I dig music and I usually like weird songs which no one likes and I play them again and again till I remember them by heart and I don’t have to listen them anymore.

2 years ago I got inspired from college kids playing guitar and because it’s so cool and all, so I bought me a cheap guitar and started strumming it.

After 3 months or so I got tired of it, actually I wasn’t getting that feel which guitar players get when they play. When I hold it I want to let go because it doesn’t play right. I guess I’m not the cool kid.

A few day ago as I was cleaning my shelves I found an old harmonica my mom gifted me when I was really young, I don’t remember the age but I always had it as far as I remember. When I hold it in my hands I just felt it, a portable light and cheap instrument which I can always keep in my pocket and play wherever I want.

I immediately cleaned it and started playing it, it sounded weird but it spoke to me I turned on my sound cloud and recorded my first sound. I’m actually so happy to play it that I wanna do it everyday. I’ve added it to my daily calender and will play it everyday. Guess playing is not for being cool to me anymore, it’s for fun.

The fly in the shinning armor

I was sitting in my living room watching TV, and suddenly sharp buzz rattled my ear. A fly dashed passed my ear and as I could see it flying lazy all around the room I was afraid of it. It was the fly in shinning Armor. I jerked up my sofa and grabbed a swatter but couldn’t find it anywhere. After 2 minutes of waiting for it to show up I sat on the sofa again and continued my journey into the wild world of National Geographic. I’m a thinker when it comes to insects so now my mind was thinking about the fly ; why are they shinning green in color I’ve always wondered. I as a child I always thought it as a king or a knight of the fly colony but as I grow up I recognized the fact that flies don’t really get along with other flies like ants or bees do. Finally Google to the rescue. These flies are actually different than the common house flies they are a different specie known as blow flies. Their food and place to make magic happen is the same though: corpses and homeless guy’s wastes. I always thought these flies are lazy and dumb but they are actually much more efficient. Blow flies can smell their food and corpses from 1.6 miles away, they love sheep and some can leave their maggots inside human skin says wikipedia. That information is quite new for me to absorb. I browsed around more and stumbled on to the article about coffin fly. A coffin fly is another specie which I have never met but it can dig down six feet deep into earth to lay eggs in a human corpse O.O this info is quite scary as I always thought I would rest in peace down there. The scare alarmed my bladder and as I went to the can, I observed the knight fly sitting on the loo right at my throne. I grabbed my toilet shoe and gave it on the head. It got pasted right there. not so intelligent now are u?

The Amazing Game of Cricket

image

A few months ago West indies won T20 International World Cup. I was supporting team Pakistan and watched all the matches with my friends which Pakistan team played.

I actually find no particular interest in the game of cricket from the start of time, neither anyone at my family does. When I first played cricket I had a hard time understanding the achievements besides long shots which have such a low probability. But the recent experience taught me that it’s more than that. Every shot has to be planned in split second and that’s how batsmen play and miss longshots because of their wrong judgements. But is certainly a game to be won there is no room to loose or fail or its an advantage to the other team. Keeping aside the science of the sport watching it in crowd is extremely fun with all the adrenaline pumping its like I’m actually making split second decisions whether to cheer after a second or not.

Watching a game of cricket with a lively crowd is certainly a new experience for me and i’ll definitely do it again.
